Large-scale topographic mapping (1:500–1:5000)
Topographic base mapping at 1:500, 1:1000, 1:2000 and 1:5000 — the document construction design, land-use planning and engineering investigation are all drawn on.
What this is
A topographic base map is an accurate record of what is actually on a site — ground surface, structures, utilities, vegetation and water — drawn to a stated scale and carrying elevation. Design work begins on top of it, which is why the scale and accuracy have to be chosen against what the map is for, not picked by habit.
What you end up with
A digital base map a design office can start work on immediately, produced to the requirements of BD 11-106-08.
